Science experiments

We have started our science experiments.  Our first one is Moving Molecules. We added food colouring to boiling hot water and cold water to see what happened. The food colouring moved really quickly in the hot water and not so fast in the cold water.

Cleaning up our Environment

The Matau Syndicate decided as part of our topic that it would be a good idea to clean up our environment.  We have been looking at Habitats and how to look after them and thought if we walked out the main gates, half of us could walk along Fergusson drive and into Stephen Street and half of us could walk down Moonshine Road then into Stephen Street collecting rubbish. We also decided to sort our rubbish into paper, plastic, glass and other.  We were really shocked at how much rubbish we collected in such a small area. If this is how much we collected just imagine how much rubbish there is on the streets of Upper Hutt.  These are the photo's we took.

Wow well done Matau for doing such a great clean up but please remember to put your rubbish in the bin. Don't litter and look after out environment please.

Ki O Rahi

Over the last few weeks we have been learning Maori sports with Renae.  Ki O Rahi has been a lot of fun and we have learnt poi games, a new karakul and lots of games using big ball skills.  Here are some photos with Renae.  Thanks Renae!

Some days it was sooooo cold outside but we didn't mind. At least it wasn't raining.

Cultural Day

We have had an awesome day with our buddy class.  We have done some Maori art, had a shared lunch and visited some other classes to see their cultures that they celebrated.  We also played some string games and Rakau (stick games).
